Sika® Aktivator 205 is a special adhesion promoting solution for the pretreatment of bonding surfaces prior to bonding or sealing with Sikaflex® products. Sika® Aktivator 205 is manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 / 14001 quality assurance system and the Responsible Care Program.
Areas of Application
Sika® Aktivator 205 improves adhesion and gives a more weather-resistant bond or seal on a variety of substrates, particularly:
- metals
- many plastics
- many types of paints and lacquer finishes.
Do not use Sika® Aktivator 205 in direct glazing applications. Please refer to the Surface Preparation Guidelines for specific application information.
Method of Application
Substrate must be clean, dry, free of oil and grease and of sound quality. Thoroughly remove all loose particles and residues. Clean surface with a strong jet of oil-free compressed air or acetone. Apply Sika® Aktivator 205 with a lint free tissue or paper towel. Allow cleaner to dry 10 minutes but not more than 2 hours before applying adhesive or sealant. If adhesive or sealant cannot be applied within 2 hours of cleaning, repeat application. Reseal container tightly immediately after use.
This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.
